National Three Peaks Challenge 2009
13 August 2009

Take a look at the photos to see the people who took part in the National Three Peak Challenge and donated to the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks, respectively, in England, Wales and Scotland, within 24 hours. The Peaks are:

  • Snowdon (Wales - 1085m)
  • Scafell Pike (England - 978m)
  • Ben Nevis (Scotland - 1344m)

It is a popular misconception that the three peaks in question are in fact the three highest in Britain. Over one hundred peaks in Scotland are higher than Scafell Pike, and 56 higher than Snowdon.

The first picture shows l-r  about to set off Di Oldfield. Alastair Fraser, and Sally Symons at Pen-y-passon mount snowdon. The second picture shows Di Oldfield, Sally Symons and Alastair Fraser resting at the foot of Ben Nevis having climbed Snowndon, Safell Pike and Ben Newis in about 24 hours.
