A Truro based firm has donated computer equipment to the Cornwall Air Ambulance to be used in its charity shops.

Computer Spares Warehouse (CSW), which has stores in the city and Falmouth, donated several computers for outlets in Truro and Penzance.

Damian Lambkin chief executive of CSW said: "We chose the Cornwall Air Ambulance due to the massive amount of good work it achieves in the county, providing an essential lifeline to all that require its use.

"Having seen the crew of the air ambulance in action first hand within my role as a coastguard rescue officer, I was in no doubt that when we donated the equipment from CSW that it would be funding a much-needed service."

With shops open in Penzance, Truro, Helston, Wadebridge, Saltash and the warehouse in St Austell, the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust needs to be able to ensure that stock stored in their warehouse goes out to the right shop when needed.

Paula Martin chief executive of the charity, said: "Getting the shops in Penzance and Truro connected up with the charity headquarters and our warehouse unit will help us to keep in touch without having to pick up the phone all the time.

"The shop can e-mail their wish list for the volunteers in the warehouse to pick out ready for the next delivery. They can also let us know when they need our help, or if something special has been donated to the charity. We say a big thank you to CSW."

Cornwall Air Ambulance is funded entirely by donations from local businesses and the community, so gifts are always welcome.
