Fund a Flight Week
24 September 2012

Monday 24th - Sunday 30th September

What will YOU do to support Cornwall Air Ambulance?

To celebrate National Air Ambulance Week, Cornwall Air Ambulance are asking supporters to put the ‘Fun’ into Fundraising and raise vital funds to keep us flying and saving lives. You can fundraise in any way you like, as long as you have FUN doing it!

How you can help?

We are asking everyone to get together with friends, family and colleagues, have fun and raise money to support our charity work. Whether it is a weird and wacky event or a firm favourite – anything goes! Here are just a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

Fun at work (All work and no play….)
Make Monday morning that little bit better by selling bacon butties to your colleagues or maybe lock up your boss for the day and ask them to raise their parole money. Could you make everyone’s coffee for a small donation? How about a raffle for a day’s annual leave or a sponsored job swap?

Fun with friends (any excuse!)
If you see yourself as a Nigella or a Jamie why not organise a safari supper or a ‘Come Dine With Me’? Maybe you could hold a coffee morning or a plant sale at your local church or village hall? Why not organise a charity golf day or pub quiz?

Fun at school (no really!)
Can your school hold a non-uniform day , a disco or maybe a cake sale? For something a little bit different maybe you could set up a Wii tournament, a three legged football tournament or even snail racing!

Personal challenge (do you dare?!)
Whether it is jumping out of a plane at 10,000 feet, cycling the Camel Trail, shaving your locks off or waxing your legs – why not set yourself a challenge and ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you.

It doesn’t matter how big or small your event or activity is – every penny raised will help to keep your air ambulance flying!

Why We Need You to ‘get on board’

The first UK air ambulance to take to the skies, Cornwall Air Ambulance has been saving lives for over 25 years. The speed in which we can get paramedics to an incident or transfer a patient to hospital can simply be the difference between life and death.

From its base at Newquay Cornwall Airport, Cornwall’s Air Ambulance helicopter can reach any part of the county within 20 minutes, and the isles of Scilly in 28 minutes. On average our helicopter arrives on the scene within 12 minutes of a 999 call. Attending around 1000 incidents a year, our air ambulance is one of the busiest in the country and in 2012 we attended our 23,000th mission – something we and our supporters should be very proud of.

Without any central government support we are reliant on fundraising and donations from individuals, community groups and local businesses to keep us flying!

So please help us to fund future emergency flights – you never know might need our help next!
