Kili for Cornwall
In September 2013, a group of 31 Cornwall Air Ambulance supporters will climb to the roof of Africa on the challenge of their lives.
THE CHALLENGE
At 19,341 feet above sea level, Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak. It is also the highest freestanding mountain in the world.
The trek itself will take our group along the Lemosho Trail, one of the least-trodden and most stunning routes up the mountain.
The group will trek through five different ecosystems during their climb, from the bush land of the African savannah, through rainforest, over moorland heaths and across alpine desert before finally reaching the glaciers and snow of the Arctic zone near the summit. Temperatures will range from 25°C at the bottom to -25°C at the summit.
THE TEAM
31 people are taking on Africa's highest mountain in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. From all over Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly and beyond, everyone has the common desire to take part in the challenge of a lifetime whilst raising vital funds to keep Cornwall Air Ambulance flying.
The incredible efforts of the whole team will raise in excess of £70,000 for Cornwall Air Ambulance - that's enough to fund around 40 vital rescue missions.
THE UPDATES FROM THE MOUNTAIN
Every person on the trek has received incredible support from friends, family, colleagues and local businesses, and so we want you to share this incredible experience with them.
Not only will every one of them come back with incredible stories, pictures and memories to share, but you can also keep up to date with their progress on the mountain.
